Anonymous : if you don't mind, could you make some tips on how to make wonderful icons? whenever i make them, they always come out crappy, but i like the way you make your icons. they're perfect! :)
Ahh, well thank you! :3
Well, I like my icons to look sharpened. I’m used to making my icons 100x100, but the tumblr icon size is 64x64.
If you make it 100x100, sharpen it twice. Either smart sharpen, or just sharpen it once.
I try to be creative with my icons, and I’ve been going through a faze with showing half their face for some reason, haha. (My current icon was only supposed to be temp…hurhur)
Just try to be creative. Change the background, make it colorful.
Even just a black and white Icon looks good. Just add a few textures, some effects, and it can really look unique.
I have a tutorial for an icon effect here, if you would like to check it out. :3
Anonymous : How do you get one half of your gif one color (like black and white) and another part of it like regular? like the two top ones of post/21522270740
Well first, make your gif.
After your gif has been made, sharpened and colored, you’re going to be using a gradient map.
I’m just going to use my PSD, here. Including the gradient map.
You don’t have to use the coloring, just the gradient map with a different coloring. That’s totally up to you.
My layers, and frames now looks like this:
It’s all black and white. Now, highlight the layers you DON’T want to be black and white in the frame bar, like this:
You can either Click+shift or hold in CTRL+click on each frame that you want selected.
Now, just click on the little eye by the gradient map:
And you’re done! :3
I hope this helps. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll try and help as much as I can.
Anonymous : Hi there! Sorry about being on anon, my account's being stupid and won't let me sign in. Anyways, on your photoset here: /post/15358381014/i-dont-want-him-in-the-arena-where-hed-be-dead, the second one where it shows Gale underneath "He must", and you added the extra blue above him...how did you do that? I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!
Oh, it’s fine!
And once you have your gif made, and cropped the way you want it, just expand the canvas size up, by going to image>canvas size
The gifs I made were 245x245; So I changed the height to 300 0r 315; Make sure it says pixals, and not inches. The background color is up to you, I just keep it white, or make it the color you’ll be using for the above part.
Now just make a new layer, and drag it above all the layers. Then select the color you want. Just use the dropper tool if you would like it to blend more easily.
Then just use the brush tool. Hardness set to 0%, size totally up to you. Just start coloring it in, until you have it blended well with the gif. This could also work for pictures.
Then you just color it! :3
I did an edit quickly, haha.
And sorry if this is confusing. If you have any questions, please, don’t hesitate to ask! :3
