Black and white border on a gif;

I’m not really sure if there’s another way, but this is how I do it.  It’s just how I figured out how to do it, and if I find another way, I’ll be sure to let you know.  Hope this helps!

First: Make your gif, and color it.  If you need to learn how to make a gif, you can check out my tutorial page.

Now, you’re going to be using a gradient map.  I’m using this psd+the gradient map.  But you can use any PSD or gradient map you choose.  That’s totally up to you.

Next, you are going to be using the Rectangular marquee tool.

This is where it will get a bit complicated.

Start in the upper left corner, and drag it down to the lower right corner.  Make sure you leave space, because that will be your border.  Like so:

Now either hit delete on your keyboard, or you can use the eraser tool to get rid of it.  Make sure to have it as even as possible. And you’re done!  Hope it helps!

If you got it how you like, you don’t have to rad anymore.  I practically babbled through the rest.

ANOTHER(KINDA COMPLICATED) OPTION FOR AN EVEN BORDER.

I’m not really that great with photoshop, so I learn new tricks everyday, haha.  There’s probably an easier way to do this, but I’m not sure how yet.

You could probably make a template to make this easier.  Just open a blank document, and make rectangles to form a border, like this:

Just make sure you make a new layer before you fill that in, or else it won’t work. 

Then just duplicate the layer, and flip them until you get this:

You can make them bigger, or smaller.  Totally up to you.

Then just use the magic wand to high light the black.  The click on the rectangular marquee tool to move that selection over to your gif.

Then right click, select inverse.  Then either erase, or hit the delete button on your keyboard.

And that’s it!
